My 'Premier' Friends

In this episode we talk about sobriety, John and I are what the kids call Cali sober. No alcohol for us. 
We talk about friendship and how making up stories in your head can affect friendships but also how I am avoidant attachment so I would avoid my good friend John cause he worked with women who vocally dislike me. And when I say vocally again, its never to my face.
Chelsea is also the MOST supportive friend you can ever have, and yet we all still get "invited" to friends events but asked to bring our hair, makeup, or photography tools. Like are we friends are you trying to hire me for free.

Being Offended is a Choice in 2024

The secret to social media engagement is saying shit straight down the middle, no sides, and letting people take it how they wanna take it and letting them fight in the comments.

We talk about the pendulum swinging in the hair industry, how we won't be editing in 2024. We ar enow on YouTube too! So you know there won't be edits.

Only Haters Think You’re Toxic

So I have decided to keep track of local folks who talk shit, and it's starting to be fun; plus the content creates itself at this rate, and I get to hear new information about myself! If you DM me on social maybe I'll name names-if I can remember. How can folks, and not just me or in Charleston, hate on random people they don't even know? It's a question my bestie and I have always asked each other.
But we have leveled up my listeners, someone went and made a whole Tik Tok about me! We met once 🤣and don't worry, I checked my ego at the door because I too was like, "no way." Leading into a client telling me how a former employees mother tells folks not to come to my salon because it's "toxic" which ironically we end the episode with a Britney discussion. 
This episode is for everyone, especially mean girls, commission salon owners (cause ya know, we toxic) and anyone who has ever blindly believed someone without using critical thought, having their own experience, or simply not considering the source of information. 
In the least, you'll get some giggles.

Manifesting Flat Earth

I have always believed in manifestation, and then recently 3 physicists were awarded a Nobel Prize for proving we live in a quantum field! Find my fave manifestation person and courses linked below! What is EMDR?

This episode I wanted to talk about a trauma therapy that changed my life, and then it also turned into how our friendship came to be. From the salon, to the therapist couch, to friendship! I can promise it's all ver ethical, and my husband thought I was a mind experiment for Chis to "test" out this new therapy. Surprise it's not new! It goes beyond the "how does that make you feel" bullshit most therapists stick you with and call it medicine. Listen on in for how it works and how cool it is you can rewire some of your brain to function like a "normal" brain. Whatever normal is.

Generational Shifts in My Industry

Ok let's be real, there is just a generational shift happening, some online are calling it an exchange of power; between Millennials and Boomers. I have my own opinions on this, but to get to the point, my industry has seen MASSIVE changes since 2020. Left and right and everyday; and I do not think it's going to slow down any time soon. The big one right now is education. The way our industry communicates, grows, evolves and thrives is through education, but the new hairdresser is consuming and searching for MORE than just a ticket to a show. Brands are coming up and showing up and brands are cracking at the foundation refusing to change. Blake, an industry leader in my eyes as well as a voice of not only the Millennial Hairdresser but Gen Z too, sits with me and we dissect whats happening, and then maybe... at the end we let you in on something we have been brainstorming! This is a good one for all, but an exciting one for hairdressers!

Is Gen Z Employable?

Now that the Generation has a hard stop (1997-2012) there is a micro generation in the midst, the Zillenial (1990-2000) and there is a huge difference. I have had younger stylists set up interviews and ghost before, but I had my first full on hire ghosting. The part that doesn't make sense was she just never said anything, skipped work, deleted the group chat app so she wouldn't get notified we were trying to reach her and turned her read receipts off. BUT she would watch and INTERACT with the salon story. I was shooketh. I don't care if you want to quit. Just nut up, and quit! I also tried to go to the source, the local beauty school, and they didn't have much to say about accountability so I put schools on blast as far as what they actually do for our industry. My entire staff is under 26, they had a lot to say about this and about Gen Z. I just have questions. All of this, while I'm fighting for my life trying to do sober October, well I held out for this episode and we try and brand new strain and take it from there! So if this adds to my "reputation" in Charleston, so be it. Because maybe, just maybe; I am a b*tch.

In this episode you get to meet my best friend!! Samon Mahas! Samon is doing something so many stylists are doing, and shaking up her way of life!! She went from a career one location ever stylist into her own small business inside a poppin' salon that primarily booth rents! I believe you can find success in any corner of our industry, Samon is just proof of that! As a progressive commission salon owner I always turn to Samon for insight and advice to my team because not only will she give it to me straight, she's my ideal candidate for employment! I would love to employ a strong, smart, creative person like herself! In this episode we chat about toxic salon owners and stylists! How people aren't property, how we all have our own filter in life, and the boomer salon vibe vs the modern salon vibe. I promise you if you are triggered it is on you because we are 100% generalizing from personal anecdotal evidence. In this episode we didn't flavor and strains since I went straight to the airport; but trust we did sample flavors of Milwaukee's finest the rest of the week prior.
